My car tire ……
Yesterday, 28th January 2007, while I was driving back from Batu Pahat to JB, something happened. I heard a loud explosion sound from behind of my car. I quickly pulled out by the road side and see what had happened.
.
Gosh! One of my tires burst. I’m in the middle of rural area and there were no shops and houses around. So, I get back in the car and drive along slowly to see if I can get help somewhere ahead.
.
After a kilometer or so, I saw some old wooden shops by the road side. Most of them were closed as it was Sunday. I stopped there and saw an old man sitting in front of a closed shop and fanning himself, spending the rest of his day.
.
I got down from my car and ask the old man if there’s any workshop nearby. He said that the nearest workshop is around 10-20 km away. Furthermore, most of the workshops close on weekends. I was amazed! What am I going to do now? I never change a car tire before. Usually I’ll get help from some friends. But now I am about 60 km away from home and stuck in a village.
.
“Why don’t you change it with your spare tire?” said the old man. I told him that I don’t know how to change car tire and I had never changed a tire (actually I saw people change tire before. It’s not that complicated. I just don’t want to sweat all over and got my hands dirty. I hate the stain)
.
Since I have no choice, I bring out those apparatus and change the tire myself. After I lift up my car, I tried to unscrew the nuts. First nut unscrewed. “Great!” I think to myself. Then the second one “Great again”
.
However, when it comes to the third and the fourth one, those nuts remain stationary no matter how hard I tried. Ops, what am I gonna do now? I gotta go home no matter what! I tried to get help here and there but they are unable to help me.
.
Now, more and more people are surrounding me and watching me change the tire. It’s understandable as kampong people love to know what’s going on around them so that they can be an ‘expert’ to tell those late comers the whole story such as where is this guy come from? Where is he heading to? What is his occupation? Etc.
.
Finally a man in his middle age saw my situation and brought a long iron rod with him. I immediately understand what he is trying to do. He is trying to apply lever rule to increase the force by extending the distance between load and effort.
.
His brilliant idea had solved my problem. Finally, he successfully unscrewed the rest of the nuts and he also helped me to change the whole tire. I am so thankful to him. I tried to give him some money (it is a Chinese culture as a meaning of buying him a cup of coffee) but he insisted. I tried my best to offer him that little money but he still insists. So, I just can thank him and bid farewell to those villagers before I left.
.
Along the rest of my journey, I ask myself how I actually feel. (I’m very particular about the way I think and the way I feel as I’m trying to implement the Law of Attraction in my life, lately).
.
I feel that I’m blessed because only 1 tire burst at the time.
.
I feel great for knowing such a nice guy who helps me to change my tire. It tells me that there are plenty of nice guys out there in our world.
.
Actually, I’m not planning to use this road. But because the other road I frequently use was terribly jam due to the opening of the largest shopping mall in Batu Pahat (BP Mall) trying to profit from the local purchasing power as the Chinese New Year is just around corner. So, I take this alternative road and as a result, I met these kind villagers. It was like a god’s perfect plan for me. Don’t you think?
.
For the first time, I change my own tire with some help.
.
Can you see? So many good things happen to me in one afternoon.
Are you kinda jealous of me? My Chinese New Year Luck in coming!
You’d better watch out, my friends/readers.
.
.
Have you checked your car tire?
Raymond
