An Awesome Day

Finally, I manage to spare
a day for myself. Today, I do everything except teaching, marking books and my
internet marketing stuffs. Thanks to Labour day and Wesak Day.

I woke up at around 11am. I
actually laze on my bed for an hour before I actually get up off my bed. After deposited
my checks and took my lunch I went to my neighbour’s house to chat.

Then I begin to do my
house work. Changing the water of 2 aquariums, bath my tortoises and do a lot
of gardening.

I have cleared the ground
for quite a while and thinking of replanting the flowers (I sprayed the whole
area with herbicide because too much grass grown after Chinese New Year while I
was not at home), but never have the time.

Img_0413_1It used to be like this

Today is going to be the
day. I remove the dead plants, and replant back.

The cleared area

.

Huh, what a tiring day.

Dscn1005

The flower will blossom soon.

.

While resting, I surf the
internet. YouTube.com is the best place for me at this point of time. I spend
the whole evening watching MV’s and MSN with friends.

Then I decide to do some
makeover to my friendster’s Profile. I add texts and video, background … etc.

I keep on editing and reformatting
my media column and .css file until I got what I want, then SURPRISE! It’s
already 11pm.

Wow, good time passes by
so fast. I think it’s time for my dinner. Actually, I’m typing this blog in one
of the Restoran Ayub, Taman Setia Indah, a mamak stall somewhere near my house.

Too bad, there’s no Wi-Fi
connection here. So I can’t post it right away. Need to wait until got home
first.

Have a nice holiday!

Rideout Tea Garden - Late for meeting

Yesterday (19/4/07) was a busy day. I woke up at 4.40 a.m.
.
The first thing I did was not brushing my teeth or wash my face. The first thing I did was (as usual) switch on my laptop and start my work e.g. checking mails, blogging, etc.
.
The reason I woke up so early was because I’m having a call with Stephen at 6.00a.m. (Actually it was 6.00pm a day before. But the time is for Michigan, US. So after conversion, it’s equivalent to 6.00am in the morning, here). So I need to prepare my list of questions to ask him, mainly about marketing with blogs, articles and directories submission.
.
It was cheap to call with Skype. I spend only HK$19 to make a call from Singapore to US for 1.5 hour. Great! I save a lot comparing to calling with my handphone some time ago. Besides, handphone makes my ear and brain hot. It cooks my brain.
.
The call ended at 7.30am and I need to rush to clean myself up and take my breakfast because I’m having a mastermind meeting at Rideout Tea garden McDonald at 9.00am sharp.
.
For your information, It takes me around 30 minutes to travel from Yew Tee station to Queenstown and I have a little time only to get myself ready for the meeting.
.
Needless to say, I was late. A friend, Cheryl who agreed to pick me up from Queenstown to Rideout Tea Garden also late because she needs to wait for me. Ops! That’s embarrasing.
.
The meeting went well and the agenda of the meeting was on traffic generation. We discussed about blogging, SEO, Articles, duplicate content issues and copyright issues.
.

Dscn0987_1

We have less people coming for Mastermind meeting this time. It is because some are still on a call on Protege Program. Hope they make good money there.
.
Dscn0989

Yes. This is our meeting venue. Less people, better environment, complete with power supply and wireless internet connection. Indeed a fantastic place.
.
Dscn0988

Let’s say "Hi" to those tortoise. They came here for their Happy Meal too.
.
Dscn0990

Full of tropical plants. What a perfect environment.
.
Dscn0991

.
I think that’s all for today.
.
Talk soon,
Raymond

Boosting Brain Power: Can You Make Yourself Smarter?

Tips for improving IQ can also help prevent dementia

By Beth Anne Piehl

Source: Petoskey News-Review

As old as herbs in China, coffee in Arabia and NoDoz pills on college campuses, people have looked for ways to stimulate mental awareness and boost their brainpower.

Nutritional supplements, word games, online IQ tests and fitness regimens can all feed the brain the oxygen and nutrients it needs to function optimally. You can, in fact, make yourself smarter.

Dr. Roger Gietzen, a neurologist in Petoskey, said the same suggestions for building mental acuity may help prevent Alzheimer’s disease and dementia as well.

The key is staying mentally active, whether you’re a Baby Boomer or just a baby.

“Activities like brain teasers, puzzles and hobbies like gardening and woodworking are very important, things that require brain computation,” said Gietzen. “They really do maintain (brainpower) and can potentially make you smarter.”

Nerve cells in the brain, he explained, can grow new connections - the process of learning. So the more a person reads and learns, the sharper he or she becomes.

Social activities are also important to brain health, Gietzen said. Joining book or bridge clubs, traveling with others and taking part in discussion groups can all bolster the way the brain functions.

“It requires use of the language part of your brain, an area often affected by Alzheimer’s,” Gietzen said. “There are studies that show people who are more socially active have a lower risk of developing dementia.”

Jogging your memory

Everyone knows that exercise is important for a healthy body - heart, lungs, muscles, weight control, etc.

But people may not consider the impact regular exercise has on their brain. Again, studies show regular physical activity can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s, and exercise also impacts overall brain health.

Why?

“Because your brain relies on good blood flow and oxygen, and people who exercise have better blood vessel health,” he said.

Beneficial exercise doesn’t have to be vigorous, he said, just frequent; 30 minutes every-other day would be sufficient.

Diet: ‘A no-brainer’

Similarly to how exercise impacts the brain, so does food. Proper nutrition that helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease also allows for better blood and oxygen flow to the brain.

“A lot of these recommendations are common-sense healthy habits,” Gietzen said. “Healthy for the heart is healthy for the brain.”

Anti-oxidant foods are particularly good for brain health, as are those rich in Vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids. That means dark green healthy vegetables, fruits and natural foods and fish.

Supplements

Gietzen said studies have shown that the dietary supplement ginkgo biloba can boost brain functioning.

Healthy Alternatives manager Scott Hawes said he started taking the supplement a number of years ago and noticed an improvement in his alertness level.

Well-versed in the supplements carried at the Petoskey store, Hawes said eating right is a big component in brain health: “If you don’t give your brain the right fuel, it’s not going to function properly.”

To that end, when something is missing from a person’s diet, supplements can make up for the lack. For instance, Hawes said fish oil is a benefit for people who don’t eat fish; quality supplements do not taste at all like fish, either, he added.

Gingko biloba, one of the store’s top sellers, works by increasing oxygen flow. “It’s kind of like using a higher octane fuel,” he said.

Bacopa is a newer supplement that may improve memory and learning. Another popular seller is Brain Support Formula, which includes several different herbs including gingko, huperzine and zincamine - plus DHA, a component in breast milk that aids infant brain growth. The supplement costs about $26 for a month’s supply.

“It’s not something you could take for a month and suddenly feel like Einstein,” Hawes said. “A lot of things tend to take time to be absorbed into the body and it depends on your digestive system and how well that works. It’s not a quick fix.”

Gietzen said other brain vitamins are Vitamin E, C and B-12. Folate is also important for brain health.

“It’s important in the machinery that runs your nerve cells,” Gietzen said, adding that low B-12 has been linked to Alzheimer’s.

Can you really pop brain cells?

It’s many a parent’s warning to their teens: Drink or do drugs and you’ll pop your brain cells.

Not necessarily accurate, but irreversible damage can occur to the brain when the body is abused, Gietzen said.

A sedentary lifestyle, poor nutrition, smoking and alcohol can all negatively affect the brain’s functioning.

“For most people, moderate social alcohol consumption probably has no severe effects on the brain,” Gietzen said. “But heavy drinking for a long period of time can do significant brain damage.”

He recalled one patient who had abused alcohol to the point that he basically erased his short-term memory, and Gietzen had to repeatedly introduce himself day after day to the patient.

Stimulant drugs like cocaine and speed can cause strokes, he said, and the illegal drug Ecstasy has been noted to kill serotonin nerve cells in the brain.

One-time use of drugs would likely not cause irreversible damage, but “regular use of drugs definitely can damage your brain,” Gietzen said.

Methods for boosting brainpower

  • Breathe deeply (more oxygen) or meditate
  • Try supplements like phosphotidyl serine or gingko biloba
  • Learn a language
  • Read
  • Do crossword puzzles or word games
  • Write letters
  • Listen to Mozart and take a music lesson
  • Get enough sleep at night
  • Avoid sugar, which can cause “brain fog”
  • Exercise
  • Talk
  • Believe you are smarter
  • Avoid unnecessary arguments
  • Laugh
  • Eat breakfast
  • Use alcohol in moderation (fewer than four drinks a week)

Brain food

Eat your way to intelligence with well-known brain foods, including: avocados, bananas, lean beef, broccoli, brown rice, Brussels sprouts, cantaloupe, cheese, chicken, eggs, flaxseed oil, legumes, oatmeal, oranges, peanut butter, peas, potatoes, romaine lettuce, salmon, soybeans, spinach, tuna, turkey and yogurt.

Tibetan Monks Remote Review 2012

By N.K. Subramanium,
Source:
India Daily

Remote viewing is nothing new in Tibetan monasteries. For thousands of years remote viewing in the middle of other spiritual activities have dominated Tibetan culture. What some Indian tourists came to learn from a few Tibetan monasteries under the current Chinese rule is extremely alarming and fascinating.

According to these tourists remote viewers are seeing world powers in the course of self-destruction. They also see that the world will not be destroyed. Between now and 2012 the world super powers will continue to engage in regional wars. Terrorism and covert war will be the main problem. In world politics something will happen in and around 2010. At that time the world powers will threaten to destroy each other.

Between 2010 and 2012, the whole world will get polarized and prepare for the ultimate dooms day. Heavy political maneuvers and negotiations will take place with little progress.

In 2012, the world will start plunging into a total destructive nuclear war.

And at that time something remarkable will happen, says, Buddhist monk of Tibet. Supernatural divine powers will intervene. The destiny of the world is not to self-destruct at this time.

Scientific interpretation of the monks’ statements makes it evident that the Extra Terrestrial powers are watching us every step of the way. They will intervene in 2012 and save the world from self-destruction.

When asked about recent UFO sightings in India and China, the monks smiled and said the divine powers are watching us all. Mankind cannot and will not be allowed to alter the future to that great extent.

Every human being though their current acts in life called “Karma” can alter the future lives to some extent, but changing the destiny in that large extent will not be allowed to that great an extent.

Monks also mentioned that beyond 2012 our current civilization would understand that the final frontier of science and technology is in area of spirituality and not material physics and chemistry. Beyond 2012, out technologies will take a different direction. People will learn the essence of spirituality, the relation between body and the soul, the reincarnation and the fact we are connected with each other are all part of “God”.

In India and China UFO sightings have increased in many folds. Many say the Chinese and Indian Governments are being contacted by the Extra Terrestrials.

In recent days most UFO activities have been seen in those countries who have indigenously developed Nuke capabilities.

When asked if these extra-terrestrials will show up in reality in 2012, the answers remote viewers are giving is: they will reveal themselves in such a way that none of us scared. They will reveal themselves only if they have to. As our science and technology progresses, we are destined to see them and interact with them any way.

According to the remote viewers, our earth is blessed and is being saved continuously from all kinds of hazards all the time that we are not even aware of. As our technologies progress we will realize how external forces saved us.

Singapore Mastermind Group - 5th of April 2007

It was Thursday morning. I have a Mastermind Meeting in Singapore at 9.30am. I decided to take a ride from a neighbour who is working in Singapore. He’s going there anyway. He left early in the morning. About 6.40am. I ask "why?". "Traffic jam", was his reply. I know it’s always jam in the causeway but I have never experienced it before.
.
There we go. When we reach the causeway, I was shock!
Why? You may ask.
A picture worth a thousand words:
Dscn0946_2
The traffic at the causeway to Singapore.
You can see that some people are even reading newspapers and riding at the same time because the traffic is extremely slow. They got to have their passport/working permit check at the counter. There were around 50 counters.
Dscn0947

The carbon monoxide is killing me. Can you see the custom building? (at the centre of the picture). We’re still far far away from the building.
Motorcycle knocking at other motorcycles is not a big deal at all in this sardin packed environment.
I can imagine that! This is even worse then the traffic of National Day celebration. Imagine they have to go through this in every working days in their life.
I feel so blessed. It pushed me harder forward. I need to work very very hard to get a much better life.
Dscn0951_1

I take this rising sun’s picture from the motorcycle too. It represents a brand new day with a new hope.
It’s so beautiful. At least it makes me forget about the traffic for a moment.

.
After fighting through the extremely terrible traffic for around an hour, we finally get out of the stupid custom. The carbon monoxide has gone now. I can breath in some fresh air finally.
.
My neighbour actually drops me at Marsiling MRT station and I take train from Marsiling to Queenstown. I wait for Cheryl (the person who organize this meeting) there. She promise to give me a ride to Rideout Garden’s Mcdonald (the venue of our meeting). It is a very nice place. Full of tropical plants and a pond with a bridge and tortoises. It is so beautiful. I haven’t seen a Mcdonald in such a great place. It’s a WOW! to me.
Dscn0956

That’s me at the far left of the picture.
We were the earliest there. Members come in one by one and finally our meeting start.
We start our meeting my presenting our current position/achivement and biggest challenge in our business. Then other members will help to solve the problem by giving opinion, suggestions and solution.
.
Then we have a group activity. We were given 11 traffic generation techniques and were ask to build an internet business model.
Dscn0958a

Notice the landscape out there. Isn’t it beautiful? Sorry that the picture look handicap a little bit because I modify it with Adobe photoshop. Or else it is too dark until you can’t see the people inside. Contrast problem.
.
Dscn0959a

Cheryl and Vincent, presenting their business model
Gosh, they didn’t tell me that we have to present our business model. I just conteng-conteng on the paper.
Dscn0961

Everybody is listening to presentation in the McDonald. LOL.
.
Dscn0963

This is Vincent and Cheryl business model.
.
Dscn0965

This is my business model.
Gosh, so ugly. They should have tell me earlier that we have to present it so that I’ll make it look better than this piece of shit!
.
Dscn0966

Any question you want to ask the presenter? Q&A session.
.
If you’re looking for the photo of me, presenting my business model, sorry to say that the photo is not with me yet at this point of writing. It’s with other member’s camera. I can’t take my own photo while I’m presenting, you see.
.
Finally, we call it a day and before we left, we take a group photograph (also not with me yet because it’s not from my camera).
.
That’s all folks,

Till then
-Raymond
